My love affair with words started as soon as I learned to read. I wasn’t the fastest reader in my class, but rather savored each word and the melody the words created when put into sentences. Coupled with this passion for words I was blessed with a vivid imagination and would often invent stories to entertain my friends.
I was a voracious reader, and when I ran out of books I rummaged among my older sister’s novels and read those at quite a young age. For someone who inhaled books, not having a public library in our small German town was devastating, but I managed.
While attending high school, the teacher often had me read my essays to the class as examples for good writing. During that time I also won one of the top prizes in a city-wide essay contest. It wasn’t until many years later that I realized that my love for writing was not only my passion, but a talent.
I’m an incurable optimist. I like sunshiny days, nice people and happy endings, and so it was only natural to write stories that warm the heart and end, of course, in the happily ever after. Besides, I feel that everybody needs a little romance in their life.
I am blessed with a wonderful husband who supports me and believes in me, as do my three grown children and nine grandchildren.
Several years ago, my husband and I turned from city slickers to hobby farmers when we moved from Arizona to Missouri. This move brought new challenges that we embraced with enthusiasm, and our new environment will be reflected in some of my stories, of course.
